Carlyle Mansions, Chelsea

A back-to-brick project, transforming a top floor lateral 2,300 sq ft four-bedroom apartment in a Victorian mansion block, with spectacular views of the river towards Battersea Park. Our brief was to create a modern family home characterised by refined, textural and timeless luxury.

The project required a complete strip back to shell and core, and then rebuild and fit out, incorporating modern mechanical and electrical services. The existing floor plan was typically Victorian. We gained permission to alter the general arrangement and relocate the kitchen to the front of the apartment, connecting it with the living room so as to provide the best views.

“Our signature texture was abundant throughout. Nearly all the walls feature a different finish: sand-blasted ash, bronze patina, specialist plaster, textured lined, hemp grass and natural stone. This gave each space individuality while retaining a cohesive continuity”

FIONA BARRATT-CAMPBELL

The design narrative emphasised all the existing period architectural detailing. A smoked-oak large format Chevron floor runs throughout. We created our very first FBC London Kitchen which displays all the hallmarks of our sister, FBC London brand; luxury British-made cabinetry and finishes with the introduction of bespoke handles and rare stones.
