Lake District
Full refurbishment and extension of a 5,250 sq ft traditional Cumbrian cottage in the Lake District to create a beautiful family holiday home. With nature as the muse for this brief, we created a sense of seamless indoor-outdoor living to make the most of the magnificent views over the lakes.
Modern pared-back interiors enhance the unique aspect of every room. From fully retractable triple glazed thermal windows contrast with the traditional cottage structure, to natural finishes and textures throughout, including oak timber flooring, marble, soft wools and mohair fabrics and linens in juxtaposition with microcement, bronze and the original, monolithic staircase.

As the client lived overseas, work and play were equally important criteria. A new fully panelled mid brown oak study room enabled home working. Inspired by the feel of Everyman cinema, we also created a family cinema room with bespoke joinery; brass and pink marble detailing. Smart home features included an integrated lighting, heating, security and AV system, all controlled remotely by phone.
