Blending Indoor-Outdoor Living

Our gardens, terraces, courtyards and balconies are serving greater purposes than ever before, dutifully doubling up as home offices, gyms and yoga studios, private sanctuaries and year-round al-fresco gathering spots.

With summer in full swing, our thoughts turn to these spaces and how we create beautifully designed, inviting and usable outdoor living environments for our clients. Maximising flexibility within the home, and living spaces that expand outdoors seamlessly, have become an increasingly important part of the design brief.

The modern pared-back interiors of our recent project in the Lake District is a great example of blurring the lines between indoor-outdoor living. Nature served as the muse for the choice of natural finishes and textures including oak timber flooring, marble, soft wools, mohair and linen. Fully retractable triple glazed thermal windows create a ‘wall of glass’, inviting spectacular views of the Lakes inside; a striking contrast with the traditional Cumbrian cottage structure.

Indoor-outdoor living is also now made possible with furniture choices that offer dual flexibility. Many of our projects for clients include British-made furniture from our very own sister brand, FBC London. Almost the entire range can be exquisitely al-fresco ready through our specially formed from high performance materials, including teak, marble and bronze, to powdered aluminium. Our most popular pieces and new editions, include our coveted Aurora Coffee Table and new Sol Chaise; both offering the same statement appeal of our trademark texture and materiality.
